Bikram Yoga is a recommended daily practice, especially when you are new.
Stay hydrated. Drink more water today to be more hydrated tomorrow. Drink lots of water to replenish yourself after class, and to prepare for your next class.
Take it easy. As a beginner, try to stay inside in the room, and take your time. Simply learning to relax and breathe goes a long way toward developing a healthy yoga practice. With a calm and open mind, you will increase your strength, flexibility, and endurance gradually over time.
Breathe in and out by your nose during class. At first it may seem impossible, but with practice this breathing technique becomes normal. Breathing in and out by your nose will help you stay calm and neutral, and not work too hard.
Stick with it. Try a few classes in a row, and don’t worry if you feel tired or a bit ill or head-achey in the beginning. The 90-minute sequence addresses your whole body systematically, stimulating an overall physiological healing response as your systems get moving. Generally these feelings subside after the first few classes, and feelings of physical energy and mental clarity instead start to increase.
Ask questions. The teachers are available before and after class, and they are especially here for YOU. Allow us to support you in any way we can. If you can’t remember your questions before or after class, then we invite you to call the studio or send us a message anytime.
Feel free to reach out! We would love to hear from you.
